I’m looking for a winter beater. The car’s sole purpose will be to survive a Southern Indiana winter driving me back and forth to work, 32 miles round trip.

A beater it is. I’m assuming the guy knows Volvos since he clearly has two for sale, another being worked on, and another waiting in the wings.

If it’s not already quite rusted, I’d feel bad using it as a winter car if yours are anywhere near as salty as around here.

Our area doesn’t go too heavy on the salt. A majority of it is the juice now and maybe some brine here and there.

Volvos are like Fieros, you want to buy them from some one who has at least 5. Which give you the added bonus of knowing a guy who knows a guy that knows how to get parts
